Nurse Practitioners

Surgical Associates of Traverse City has two nurse practitioners on staff.  They are an integral part of patient care at Surgical Associates.  Our nurse practitioners provide individualized care to our patients, focusing on all health issues and the related effects.  They educate and inform patients on multiple health conditions and surgical care, with an emphasis on wellness, self-care, and assisting with lifestyle choices to promote health.  They provide these services through comprehensive pre-operative assessments and physical examinations, post-operative care and management, and discharge planning during hospitalization.

Toni R. Gaultier, ANP

Toni R. Gaultier, ANP, is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.  She has been a nurse practitioner for 10 years, with 30 years of nursing experience.  Toni is a member of the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners, American Collect of Nurse Practitioners, and Sigma Theta Tau International (the Honor Society of Nursing).

In recent years, Toni has offered her nursing skills as a Midwest Medical Mission Volunteer to the Dominican Republic.  During the one-week missions, she provides valuable primary care to the underserved population.

The greatest reward as a nurse practitioner is “watching the process of recovery and assisting the patient with each step.”

Harriet Sue Barner, FNP

Harriet Sue Barner (Sue), FNP, is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner.  She has been a nurse practitioner for 9 years, with 17 years of critical care experience as a registered nurse at Munson Medical Center.  Sue is a member of the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners.

Sue enjoys interacting with patients and assisting them during their recovery period.
